KARACHI, Pakistan, June 13 —The Government has announced that persons who de posited less than 1,000 rupees $213—when all 500‐rupee and 100‐rupee notes were called in last week could begin claiming reimbursement tomorrow.
Deposits of larger sums will be audited by a Government committee that will check serial numbers and the right of the depositor to have had the money. Deposits will also be screened for evidence of income tax evasion.
Rulings by the committee, which cannot be appealed, could take months.
The Government recalled the notes in an attempt to halt black‐market operations and to make valueless large amounts taken from banks by the East Pakistani separatists.
