KARACHI, Pakistan, Oct. 14—Abdul Monem Khan, former Governor of East Pakistan, died today in the Dacca Medical College Hospital of gunshot wounds inflicted by two men who visited his home in Dacca, the East Pakistani capital, last night. The assailants, after talking with him for some time, suddenly fired and escaped. They left a grenade in his house.

Mr. Monem Khan, 72 years old, was Governor of East Pakistan for more than six years in the nineteen‐fifties during the regime of President Mohammad Ayub Khan.

According to a Pakistani news agency, Mr. Monem Khan was regarded as the unofficial adviser of Dr. A. M. Malik, civilian Governor of East Pakistan, and “therefore he might have become a target” of Bengali separatists, or “Indian agents” as they are officially described.
