KARACHI, Pakistan, Nov. 9 —The Pakistani radio said that two companies of regular Indian soldiers supported by armor and artillery attacked Pakistani positions south of Comilla in East Pakistan today but that they were stopped with heavy casualties. One Pakistani soldier was killed and two wounded, the radio said.
This is the first time since border clashes began a few weeks ago that the radio has spoken of an attack by regular, troops alone and is the first time it has reported the death of a Pakistani soldier in a border clash. Previously the reports have spoken of incursions by regular Indian troops and their “agents,” an allusion to the Bengali rebels.
