SRINAGAR, Kashmir, Dec. 3 (Reuters)— Six Pakistani Sabrejets made a low‐level bombing raid on Srinagar Airport today and attacked another nearby area, Indian officials said.
Indian antiaircraft batteries fired at the raiders but failed to hit any and the planes returned to Pakistani territory, the officials said.
They said the planes swept in low over the Srinagar Airport dropped their bombs, then headed for Avantipur, some 20 miles to the southwest.
After striking the Avantipur area, officials said, they made a pass over a raido transmitting station outside Srinagar.
Officials said there was no damage to Srinagar itself and damage to the airport was being assessed.
