Efforts were under way yesterday to determine the whereabouts and condition of an American woman reported jailed in Jessore, East Pakistan.
Mrs. Ellen Langle Connett, 28 years old, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Langle of Dumont, N. J., was reported by her husband, Paul, to have been seized by Pakistani soldiers early in October and sentenced to two years for illegal entry.
At the time, he said, she had crossed the border from India to bring clothing to a village about 10 miles from Jessore. He said she had worked for Operation Omega, a private relief organization.
Mr. Connett said the last information he had received was a news‐agency report Dec. 1 that his wife was in jail in Jessore.
