WASHINGTON, Dec. 13—Informed sources said today that the United States could neither confirm nor deny the Indian report on Chinese movements.

The sources said that hard intelligence information on the situation along the Indian‐Chinese border was lacking, but they said that it was quite possible the Chinese might be moving troops around the border area to unsettle the Indians. They said the Chinese had done this in 1965 at the time of the Indian‐Pakistani conflict in Kashmir.
