The following pool dispatch was received in New Delhi from a group of news correspondents.
WITH INDIAN TROOPS, near Dacca, Dec. 15—With Indian troops already looking like a victory column on their march to Dacca, advancing Indian forces are preparing to link up two miles from Dacca for the final thrust on the East Pakistani capital.
Forward elements have already crossed the Lakhya River six miles from Dacca and are meeting resistance. Artillery was still being brought up, some of it on rafts towed by ships on the broad Meghna River.
The first men to join Indian forces in their last push to Dacca came from Calcutta by air force transport planes, jeeps, river boats, bicycles and rented buses.
Bengalese streamed out from river banks and villages to cheer the forces as they went by and hailed Indian‐Bangladesh friendship, as waves of crows picked at the floating corpses of collaborators executed by the villagers in their revenge for atrocities.
