DACCA, Dec. 21 (UPI)—Indian troops began confiscating weapons carried by Bengalis today and rounding up youths without proper identification papers in a move toward off the possibility of massacres of collaborators with the Pakistani Government.
Indian officers, who have made public appeals for restraint daily since the Pakistani surrender Thursday, were seen forcibly taking Sten guns, automatic rifles and other weapons from Bengalis on the streets here.
Youths with weapons were ordered to produce identification papers. Those without them were carried off in army trucks.
