GENEVA, Dec. 27—A spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross said today that its representatives in Dacca would try to obtain good treatment for former East Pakistani officials who have been turned over to the Bangladesh regime by the Indian Army.
“Unfortunately,” the spokesman said; the all‐Swiss commit. tee had no legal authority to prevent the transfer.
After the fall of Dacca, the Indian Army captured Dr. Abdul M. Malik, the Governor of East Pakistan, and other high officials who had sought refuge in the Inter‐Continental Hotel. They were reported later to have been handed over to the Bengalis.
The hotel was one of four sanctuaries established by the International Committee and United Nations by agreement with the Indian and Pakistani Governments.
