DACCA, Dec. 27 (AP)—Nearly two weeks after the Pakistani surrender, Dacca remains almost cut off from the rest of the world.
Telephone calls can be made to India and Europe, but connections are poor. Foreign mail is not delivered. Some agents for foreign companies have not heard from their head offices for weeks. Banks will be closed until Saturday.
Indian Airlines operates single daily round trips from Calcutta, but the planes seat only 21. The only other way to get to Dacca from Calcutta is a 150‐mile trip by road and ferry crossing. This trip can take 24 hours.
