DACCA, EAST PAKISTAN, Sept. 2 (AP)—The military governor of East Pakistan has ordered 48 Awami League members of the provincial assembly, 13 civil servants and four Dacca University professors to trial before a military court on Sept. 8. Most of them have already fled from the country.
Charges against them include sedition, mass killing, organizing a rebel force, looting and arson.
Lt. Gen. Tikka Kahn, the military governor, said in the announcement last night that those who fail to appear will be tried in absentia. He said the maximum sentence would be 14 years in prison.
