Military Supply Policy in South Asia

The President has directed a thorough review of our military supply policy in South Asia.
He has directed the preparation of a study for NSC discussion of the full range of policy options with regard to military supply.
As a background for NSC consideration of these options, he has requested a paper discussing (1) the principal problems we face in developing a coherent policy in South Asia, (2) alternative
views of U.S. interests in the subcontinent and (3) alternative strategies for pursuing those interests.
The President has directed that this study be prepared-by the Interdepartmental Group for Near East and South Asia.
These papers should be forwarded to the NSC Review Group by March 24.
