China was accused tonight in the foreign affairs magazine New Times of meddling in the affairs of Pakistan, Ceylon and other countries—and of betraying the communist world's interests—to curry favour with the United States. Peking was trying to establish itself as the dominant world power in the old tradition by which China was viewed as the centre of the world.
China was doing nothing to help solve world conflicts. She sought to isolate other communist countries within their "national confines", and had attempted to encircle India with states subservient to her. She had switched her foreign trade from communist countries to the capitalist world. As for the "ping-pong diplomacy" with America, Washington had offered nothing concrete in return, only a continuation of its two-Chinas policy.
