Delhi, Aug 17. An international peace team of eight Britons and three Americans was stopped by Pakistan troops today after crossing into East Pakistan from India with relief supplies, it was reported here.
The Press Trust of India agency said that the team, known as the international Omega Peace Team, crossed the border at the official Indian checkpoint at Petrapole, north-east of Calcutta, in two vans.
The Omega team aims to take relief supplies directlv into the province without prior permission from the Pakistan Government as a protest against the Government’s unwillingness to allow outsiders to carry out relief operations in East Bengal. -Reuter.
Rawalpindi. Aug 17—Lieutenant-General Tikka Khan, Governor of East Pakistan, has ordered 30 members of the National Assembly who belonged to the now outlawed Awami League party to appear before martial law administrators, it was announced from Dacca today. The list includes Mr A H Quamiruzzaman, the former general secretary of the party—Reuter.
