The withdrawal of the Pakistan Army from East Pakistan and the release of Shaikh Mujibur Rahman was demanded in a resolution on Bangla Desh.
If that action was not taken within 60 days, it stated, the British Government should call a Commonwealth conference to urge the recognition of Bangla Desh as a free and sovereign state.
Moving the resolution, Mr John Pardoe. Liberal MP for Cornwall, North, said a whole nation was being destroyed because it dared to take the principles of liberal democracy seriously. Countries that supplied aid and arms to Pakistan had a duty to use their influence to enforce the democratic choice and right of East Pakistan.
