Karachi, Nov 7.—A cyclone swept the eastern fringe of East Pakistan today damaging native huts and rice crops on offshore islands but no deaths had been reported by tonight.
The East Pakistan Red Cross released hundreds of tons of food, medicines and blankets for the worst hit islands, Kutubdia and Maiskhal in the far south-east near the Burma border.
Delhi. Nov 7.—Radio Pakistan, monitored here, said the cyclone crossed the coastline with 90 mph winds yesterday near the port of Cox’s Bazaar, located about 60 miles south of Chittagong. Communication with Kutubdia and Maiskhal had been cut off but there were no reports of loss of life.
Along the Indian coast, however. between 100 and 200 fishermen who put to sea on Friday were islands. But no deaths had been missing and feared dead.—UPI.
