KARACHI, Pakistan, May, 16 — The Government reported that a Chinese transport plane carrying powdered milk from Peking arrived in Dacca, East Pakistan, today. to help victims of the recent strife there.
It was the first such relief shipment from China although last week Peking announced that it was extending a large interest‐free commodity loan.
Since the Pakistani Army first struck against the East Pakistani secessionist movement on March 25, communications throughout the province necessary for distribution of food from Chittagong, the province's only deepwater port, have been disrupted.
The authorities assert that there is sufficient food on hand in Pakistan to feed the population but that the distribution problem has caused short supplies in some areas,
